At Park Lane School we are proud and privileged to be partnered with a special school based in Mbale, Uganda called Manjiya Primary school.
The link was made through an organisation called PONT, who are based in Pontypridd.
Over the past 5 years, we have been very fortunate to meet with our partner schools face to face, by sending 4 members of staff to Uganda but also welcoming teachers from Uganda to Park Lane.
Partnerships allow teachers and pupils to learn about and respect each other’s cultures and ways of life. They allow us to share ideas and experiences and develop common projects to enhance the curriculum in areas such as literacy, numeracy, geography, sport, music, and sustainable development.
During these current difficult times both school have been affected in different ways. Unlike our school, there was no Hubs in Uganda for pupils to attend, instead pupils have had up to a year off school. However, schools are now introducing a phased return and we wish are friends at Manjiya ,the very best with this new phase of education they are facing.
To support our partnership school, we will be participating in a ‘Virtual Walk to Uganda’ sponsored walk here at Park Lane during the week beginning April 19th, 2021.
